BREAKING: Tucker Carlson hospitalized with appendicitis!

Popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson was hospitalized on Thursday after experiencing sickness that turned out to be appendicitis — a serious medical issue that can be fatal if not treated promptly.

Carlson was notably missing from his usual primetime slot on Thursday night, particularly since he was supposed to be covering the congressional baseball game, which was highly anticipated this year following the horrific shooting at a Republican practice on Wednesday morning.

The “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host reportedly went to his doctor when he realized he had a fever and wasn’t feeling well, and the doctor, suspecting appendicitis, urged him to go to the hospital, according to TVNewser.

“Tucker is now being treated for appendicitis,” a Fox News representative said in a statement Friday, according to TheWrap. “He is in good spirits and expects to back on the air soon.”

The network’s chief national correspondent, Ed Henry, filled in for Carlson on Thursday night, while fellow Fox News host and former White House press secretary Dana Perino took the slot on Friday.

Henry was originally supposed to just provide updates for Carlson from the baseball game in D.C., but when Carlson fell ill, Henry hosted the show from the event. He mentioned that he was “pinch hitting” for the show’s namesake while on air.

In April, after Bill O’Reilly was fired from Fox News, Carlson took over his 8 p.m. ET time slot. Although he has not yet reached O’Reilly’s consistent 3 million plus viewers, he has been wildly successful in his own right, with an average of about 2.9 million viewers, according to Western Journalism, making him the most-watched host on the network.

Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, which is located on the lower right side of your abdomen. If left untreated, it can cause the appendix to rupture, resulting in an abscess or life-threatening systemic infection, according to the Mayo Clinic. Standard treatment is surgical removal of the appendix.

We certainly wish Tucker a speedy recovery, and we look forward to having him confronting liberals on the air again soon!
